Saturday was a dreich day. (For the non-Scots, this basically means it was cold, wet, and really windy; the sort of day you don't want to do anything outdoors.) The day just disappeared without my doing much to mention. I guess I was writing updates and cleaning house for a coming visitor.
The next morning was still very windy and cold, but no longer rainy. We took a walk down to the head of the loch, taking in the high surf due to the winds, and watching the sunlight play on the water as it danced from behind the clouds. We saw several Oystercatchers, as well as a wren along the way.

While she was gone, I did some practicing harp and some weaving. The harp practice was because I'd gotten a call Saturday afternoon asking me to come play for the church service Sunday evening at 8 pm. So I was trying to figure out what to play.
When Andrea returned, we headed over to our friends' (Justin and Laura) home, and visited with them for quite a while. We looked at their photos of their four-month cycling tour of Australia, and then played harps and chatted.
In the middle of this visit, I had to leave for the church service, so I took off. Unfortunately, this was just as dinner was getting ready, so I had to wait until after the service to get my dinner.
I arrived at the church and was immediately offered tea (and pancakes!) Just before the service started, the flautist I met the previous time arrived, and I asked her if she would play with me on "The Water Is Wide." She agreed.
The service ended up being a concert, with three performers. There was a local boy who was home for holiday from school who played beautifully on the guitar and sang a piece he wrote. There was me, who played the harp: Be Thou My Vision, a tune I'd just written, and The Water is Wide with the flautist. Then there was a country/western singer that sang to canned back-up music and live guitar, singing familiar hymns with a country beat. He played for well over an hour, so I didn't get back to Justin and Laura's until after 10 pm.
On the way back from the service, I thought I hit a rabbit that dashed out in front of me in the road. I backed up to see if I had, and when I saw there was no squashed bunny, I was pretty relieved. I was even more relieved when he then dashed out again and crossed the road -- apparently he'd turned back just in time to miss me!
I visited more with Justin, Laura, and Andrea, and then drove Andrea back to Stornoway, so she could spend the night with our friends Sascha and Angeles to celebrate Angeles' birthday. I hung out with them until almost midnight, and thus didn't get home until 12:30. By the time I called Wayne, organized some things, and read to relax, I didn't get to sleep until 3 am.
